Winter Weather 2011...

Oh to be cooped up in the house for a week. It has its ups and downs. I have gotten an amazing amount of work done around the house, for my classroom, and the crafting has begun. Josh and I have been struggling since October to figure out things to do to decorate our bedroom. When Josh bought me my new bedspread and sheets for my birthday that are perfectly my favorite shade of yellow, I knew that I wanted splashes of color all over the room.

While I am still on the search for an awesome colorful rug, some decorations for the dresser and an awesome mirror (because as of right now I have no mirror in my room), I have stolen an idea from my best friend to do yo-yo art. I LOVE it!! I can sit here and watch my new favorite show and work on these adorable crafts. I am so excited to finally have a direction to go with in decorating our room. Josh is excited! I love the fabric I have chosen so much. I even bought fabric that would work perfectly in my living room. I have no idea what I am going to do with them yet; maybe more yo-yos, maybe something else.

I wish I had this much time all the time to work on things for our home, but knowing I would get cabin fever eventually I will look forward to spring break and summer in order to make more wonderful things for my house.

On another note, my mother-in-law has a huge case of buttons and she is letting me use them for my crafting. Maybe I will be adding some to my yo-yos, maybe a remodel of something else. I could get used to this.

Here are a few pictures of my fabric choices and my crafting thus far today! So much fun! I will definitely post a picture of my finished product!

A great day to end the year...

Today is a good day. Not only will we be welcoming in the new year tonight but it is the first day in twelve days that I have felt like myself. Thanks to the wonders of amoxicilin, I am on my way back to normal.

With that said, I feel like having some fun. I think lunch ( a huge one since I have not eaten my share of holiday deliciousness because I have been sick) and a movie. Then it will be friends and fun tonight to ring in the new year.

Like others I know, 2010 has indeed been a great year. Graduation. Marriage. Watching all my best friends getting married. Setting up my first home. My first teaching job. My second teaching job (long story). My first Christmas with my husband. My first White Christmas. It's been a pretty good year but something tells me that 2011 will have some wonderful things in store for us as well.

Until next year....

Good Times!!!

So it has been six months since Kayla and I got married already. I really cannot believe that times has flown by so fast. Tonight we went out for a nice dinner, and probably a little too expensive wine, but we had fun. We talked about how we feel that the first six months have been so easy. Not that this really surprises us, just that we were prepared for something a little more rough. I think the secret has been give and take, as well as good coffee. We know one another so well and whenever we get into a disagreement we "normally" are able to see things from the other side. Marriage is never perfect but where is the adventure in a perfect life? Thank you Kayla to for being everything to me. On a separate note we are completely excited about sharing the weekend with friends!!!

Change is gonna come...

This probably won't be a very long post because one, I am tired, and two, I don't have a whole lot to say. Josh is forcing me and hounding me about writing a blog post so here it is!

Over the last couple of weeks it has become very apparent to me that change is inevitable. After five months of marriage I feel that change, and a whole lot of it at once, is very close on the horizon for the Turners. New job possibilities and the beginning of the process of going overseas are flying from all over the place. It is exciting, scary, and a part of life. Through it all, Josh and I will be together and it will be an amazing adventure in the words of Josh himself. I love this crazy roller coaster.

Until another time!

P.S. I have been putting together a Thanksgiving cookbook for my children's parents and have received some delicious recipes from the parents. I will be sharing these with all of you avid readers...haha! Look for some delicious recipes in the near future!

Fall!!!

So it is finally Fall . . . This means pumpkin pies and jack-o-lanterns, baseball and football, scarves and jackets, boots and flannel, falling leaves and nipping winds, but most of all it means time with friends and families. This Fall is shaping up to be one of the greatest in memory. We will have parties and a wedding to attend and dance at; big holiday family dinners to eat at. Life seems truly better this fall. I feel a cold trip to Helen approaching and some winter camping needed. The only issue with this fall will be the time. Time needed away from work to go camping and weekends off to get to Helen. But even if there wont be time to do what I want I will always have time for coffee and movies with my beautiful wife, keeping warm under the blankets on the couch. Im excited to see where this fall will lead and sad to see the leaves fall into winter.
